Met up with a few ex colleagues last week. They were surprised to learn that we have sold the tutoring business. When they learned that I am working mostly online this days, they immediately thought I am running an online store. They kept asking questions on the distribution network of the products and which warehousing service provider is used. Even though I tried to explain, but they got so caught up with the idea of me running an online store, no amount of explanation shed any light. For some people, it’s impossible to make money online unless you own an online store and sell merchandises that require a sophisticated warehousing solutions.

If you are selling physical goods, you would probably use a warehousing service that can fulfill your warehouse and distribution needs. For instance, if you are distributing clothings, you may need climate controlled and protected facilities. Many companies actually outsource this part of their business to the fulfillment solutions experts that have automated warehousing and inventory system that takes care of your products and make sure you will never run out of stocks.

Have been looking at the possibility of getting involved with affiliate sales through PPC marketing. But, cringed at the thought of us creating landing pages without coding knowledge and technical skills. Not until we started designing our own landing pages, we realize that there are so many things and terms to learn i.e. quality score, loading time.

There is certain risk factor attached to PPC affiliate sales, you can lose money if the conversion rates for your PPC campaigns are lousy. Since one of the reasons for poor conversion could be due to the less than ideal landing pages, getting professional Web Development is definitely a wise decision if one can afford it. Not many of us ordinary people could afford to run campaigns that losing thousands a day!

They are blogs that get a sizeable search engine traffics, with a little twist, the Adsense income doubled this week. Too bad the niche of this blogs don’t pay well, but USD0.03 is 10 sen and it adds up.:-)

Also tested out the idea of creating niche sites for Adsense. Looking for keywords and doing research on the keywords took much time. But, I have found some keywords and niches to work on for the next few weeks. Since granny G is going to continue to smack us for linking out. Need to find other googly ways of earning the US$$ online.

You might have heard of pay-per-click or pay per action advertising, but have you heard of pay per play advertising? It’s a relatively new way of online advertising, and for webmasters and blog owners alike, another way to make money online!

In a nutshell, you get paid for playing the Net Audio Ads on your site for every impression. How this work? A short five second audio clip will automatically turn on when a visitor arrives at your website or blog. This super short commercial may not be annoying, but I do think you need to have above average traffics to get paid reasonably well.

NetAudioAds™ claims that it has over 66,000 advertisers and over 550,000 websites responsible for up to 43 million impressions the 5 second audio ads on a monthly basis and their list of advertisers included household names like Taco Bell and Harley Davidson.

They currently have a lucrative affiliate program which allows any sites to sign up to share in the affiliate revenues. This program will cease come February 1, 2008, so you have two more weeks to decide whether you are game to try it!

Well, why not take a look and try it? Who knows it will be the next big thing. After all, what have we got to lose?

It’s strange when I reflect back just a year ago, I barely knew anyone who worked from home. I knew they were lots of people work out of home offices or garages i.e. insurance agent, futures broker and real estate agent. They are also people who run small businesses from their homes and they were called SOHO. Maybe there always has been … but I don’t know anyone of them personally!

Now that I work at home myself majority of time and I realize it’s good to get to know some people who work from their home. Sure, they may be a lot of people who work from home on a part time basis. I suppose I’ve always been in that category. Having been in teaching jobs that practice flexi-hours and no clock in hours, I do work from home from time to time. Now of course I have several blogs/websites and I earn money through various forms of monetization methods.

If you work at home what kind of business or work do you do?

The PR of my first blog went from PR3 to PR2, then PR2 to PR4 and finally PR0. This did affect income from some of the networks, but I have three new blogs that have acquired PR1 and PR2, that more or less compensate for the loss.

I have have good luck with some networks that do not factor PR in their algorithm. If you look at the comparison chart for the last three months, income from various networks did yo-yo together with the PR. But, at the end, it seems it’s like a zero sum game, you lost some, you gain some.

I am too lazy to plot the chart and provide proof, you just have to take my words for it.:-) In September 2007, I was able to pull in a four digit income from blogging for the first time. October started really well, by the beginning of the second week, I have already exceeded 80% of the September’s income.

Then, I slow down a bit and took a more a relaxing pace during the second and third weeks i.e. sleep earlier and skip a few days with no paid post, partly because I was in the midst of moving house, mainly because I hurt my back and need more rest. Despite of all this, I am still making 50% more than last month!

Well, I am not really out to impress anyone and there is really nothing to shout about, I know a lot of mummy bloggers are making much more than me and they keep quiet about it. I need an interim and I wanted to chronicle this on my blog.:-)

What do I think about the recent PR demotion and the penalty for selling links through paid posts and text links? Would it affect our income next month? I don’t have many text link, the only one I have is already paid for the whole year. Would I stop writing paid posts because of that ? Well, I have one blog that get demoted from PR3 to PR2, but there are two blogs promoted from PR0 to PR2, and another from PR0 to PR1. I would put this blogs to work, and create more blogs as backup. :-)

How many of us have not heard of Argus? How many of us know what Argus is? I guess it’s one of those things that everyone have heard of but no one know exactly what is it.:-)

But, one thing for sure, we can always count on PayPerPost to create talks and buzzes all around for anything new that they are going to introduce.

Argus is not even going to be Argus when it grows up ! Apparently a new name has been found and planned, but it will only be announced at the PostieCon, the conference that going to held in Las Vegas next month.

At first I heard all this, “Oh no, the beast is coming to eat us up” discussions, then, I heard all this “I wish Argus is here, so we can get rid of google pagerank” talks. So, is Argus going to be a beast or a pet? We shall see.

Though I don’t know exactly what is Argus, I do know it has to do with data collections and statistics of our blogs. Many would say isn’t difference tracking programs always give us different data? Statistics may seem random to many people, but in my opinion randomness is a built in feature of statistics. We can’t say the statistics would be 100% accurate, but it should be able to tell fairly accurately about the traffic patterns and reader profiles of a blog.

Personally, I secretly hope that Argus will eventually replace the need of unrealiable Alexa and unpredictable PR. Will Argus be able to do that in future? We shall see!

Though there is nothing to shout about compare to what Lilian and Samm had made in the month of September, it’s a new record for me since I started blogging for money 5 months ago. For the first time, it breaks into 4-digit and doubled what I used to make in the previous months. Consider the fact that I have only one and half blogs(this blog didn’t qualify until middle of September), I consider September as a good month.

Just like Lilian and Samm, I kept an excel spreadsheet to record and motivate me to achieve the target set for myself. I am extremely grateful that I accidentally bumped into Elaine’s blog earlier this year and learned about this opportunity to write paid posts. This has been my main source of income since I folded up the tutoring center and preschool last month.

I must say making money online has never been in my wildest dreams, it opens up a brand new world for me. Unlike others who said blogging for money is for fun or for personal satisfaction, it had been paying bills and mortgage for me, especially when the business was not doing exactly great. I am so grateful that God provides in the least expected way.

I was a bit hesitated to write this post earlier because I don’t want to appear to be bragging. It does take a lot of hard work to stay focus and motivated to type for hours. I have no child to take care and only teach part time now, so my priorities may be a little different than yours. It’s not really “easy” money, so don’t envy or get jealous.I am sure you can reap the same harvest if you are willing to put your heart and time into it. :-)

After putting up up the links, I emailed back to inform I have done that. Today, I received the money in my Paypal account. Just want to share with you so you may know and try out, I am not being paid to write this post.:-)

Though I have been writing paid posts with a few other networks, I like PayPerPost for the variety and the constant stream of blog ads you can get. You hardly get this many assignments covered this vast categories with the other networks. There is no spamming 20 links of the same site on your blog with different keywords like many of us once got on the other network, if you understand what I mean!

I have signed this blog up for PayPerPost few days ago, have made twenty five bucks with two posts so far. Despite the unhappiness going on towards the newly introduced TOS, I am not really bothered by the ever changing rules or all the new rules introduced. Frankly, it’s never easy to earn money, my policy is to work hard and learn to play by the rules.

Well, I am just a small time postie out to make a little pocket money to buy nice stuff that otherwise I would be thinking thrice before I splurge on. My current project is to overhaul the wardrobe, lets see how PayPerPost is going to help me to look good.:-)

Guess what? This blog is approved for PayPerPost today !!

After seeing many bloggers earning money by writing paid-post, I started writing paid posts on the other blog that hosted on Blogspot. When I learned that many advertisers prefer self hosted blogs with own domains, I bought this domain and went dot com with the money earned from writing paid posts on the other blog.

This blog is three months old, so I submitted it to PayPerPost in beginning of the week. Today, I got the approval email!

This is my first PayPerPost post on Leah’s Cafe. Since this blog hasn’t obtained any PR, it’s very unlikely that many opps will be available. You will be seeing some paid posts scatter sparingly on this blog from now on. Whenever opportunity presents itself, I will take it, but will try to keep it relevant.:-)

I have some ideas to start another blog but was not able to pull it off because of being sick with the flu and then the strep throat last couple of weeks. It’s going to be a new venture !

Despite of all the new rules, many of us still do Payperpost, I think currently it’s still THE network that has the most variety of opps. I like the varieties, which mean I can pick and choose. Though there will be a struggle between picking a more relevant topic or the higher paid one.

After much procrastination, I finally drove to the Sony Centre downtown to get a digital camera to replace the one that broke few months ago. The Sony Centre is at the old part of the town, parking is usually horrendous especially on Mondays. I got there at 10 a.m, had to drive in a circle for around half an hour to get a parking space!

Bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-W55, an entry level point and shot. I didn’t buy the latest model, which costs 200 bucks more. The sales person (she is the daughter of the shop owner) is quite honest, she told me the increase in megapixels (extra 0.9 Megapixels) for the latest model doesn’t justify the price difference, as it will not make much difference for 4R prints.

The camera is quite light and compact, actually it feels quite flimsy before I insert the battery and memory stick. I wanted to get the pink one, but it was out of stock, so I got it in boring silver. It also comes in baby blue, but the blue somehow make it looks like a toy camera, to me.

You are probably going to see more images on the blogs from now on. Anyway, the camera is sponsored by all the paid posts I have done on the Montessori blog. It’s nice to be able to afford nice little things with the money earned from paid posts. :-)
