Will you renew your NOD32

If you are online a lot, you do need to have a reliable and robust anti-virus and anti spyware program that protects your computer from all the malicious attacks. However, not all security software are created the same, some just slow down the computer so much, it’s a pain in the butt.

Our current security software has expired and we haven’t not decided to renew or to get a new software. I don’t like the fact that the current software is so intrusive and slow down the computer considerably. Anyone has experience using NOD32? Will you proceed with NOD32 renewals without hesitant when it expires?

Moving blog content to a new host

If you were here visiting my blog yesterday and you saw the whole blog disappeared, that’s because I was migrating the content of the whole blog to a new host. It takes a few hours for it to propagate. The transfer did go on smoothly, though I forgot to backup the widgets, now have to put them back in.

Will continue to migrate the other blogs to a different host in the coming week. It’s not that difficult to migrate a wordpress blog to a new host. One service provider actually charge $99.90 for the task, what a rip off! Anyone wants to change host? I can do the migration for $29.90. :-)

Hosting goes where the offer is better

The hosting for this blog and several other blogs is up for renewal next month. Have been looking to take advantage of better introductory offer at other companies. My current host is alright except for this annoying high loading issues that have not been tackled for the past two months.

Have no idea why the “overloading” issues won’t go away even though I have done everything the support staffs suggested. I believe the blogs do not really have very high traffic to justify over loading the server. But, it’s part of the small prints that when your blog(s) used up 25% of the resources, you will get that dragged “high loading” default page.

New laptop for free

We have been contemplating about getting a new laptop for a while. But we have decided to get it later when I am physically in IL. Aren’t we glad we waited? My father in law has offered us a new laptop for free!

He got a part time job with the newspaper(writing a column), they have funds allocated to sponsor him a new laptop. Since he needs only the basic desktop publishing and word processor, he had suggested that he uses the old one that the big boy currently uses and we can have the new laptop!

So we are looking for deals online right now. The big boy and I are both excited about the newer and faster laptop. (Excitement, which by the way is an understatement!)

Most of us have installed a free counter that gives us stats about our visitors. Don’t think anyone of us is obsessed with the numbers, but it’s good to know who read our blog and where they are from, isn’t it? However, it can be quite interesting to look at all the keywords that people searched and ended up at your blog.:-)

Recover deleted files

When a file is deleted from your computer, it is not really deleted. It is simply removed from the list of files in the folder. If you’re using Windows, and deleted will normally be in the Recycle Bin. You can restore the files in the Recycle Bin easily, with no problem at all. So the first thing to do when you want to recover a deleted file is look in the Recycle Bin.

If the file you need isn’t in the Recycle Bin, you could have emptied the bin or deleted the file with other method that bypassed the Recycle Bin. Well, don’t be despair, it may still be recoverable!

However, if all this sounds like Greek or too geeky to you, you may need assistance of the professionals to recover deleted files. They would be able to tell whether the data contained in the file still remain intact which allows the possibility of recovery.
