I won the auction

I recently bid on a pair of earrings and a pendant, and I won the auction. The auction was held to help to raise fund for girl’s pending surgery. She has a rare genetic disorder which caused cancer cells to grow in different parts of her body. She has lost her hearing and her eyesight is deteriorating too. Since I don’t really wear much of jewelry, I have donated the jewelry for her to raise more fund.

Her friends help to make the jewelry pieces, though they are really nice and one of a kind. They may take them too long to produce a piece of work. In order to raise enough fund in a short period of time, maybe they can also buy from a reputable wholesale jewelry supplier and sell them on Ebay to raise the medical fund. That would be faster, wouldn’t it?

Over heated car engine

I have been running around town most of yesterday and today. Yesterday, I went down to the tiles shop to pick and order the tiles for the renovation. On the way there, I noticed that the temperature indicator of my good ‘ol Sunny is pointing closer to ‘H’ than to ‘C’. Past experiences told me that the engine might be over-heated. On the way home, I quickly stopped by the workshop to check.

It was an air condition repair shop that I could trust, I passed the key to the boss and went to the next door’s Indian Restaurant for lunch. I could see 2-3 workers working on my car from the restaurant. By the time I finished lunch, they were about to complete the job. They told me the fan of the air condition was malfunction due to a faulty time relay.( Or something like that? I don’t really understand what they said.:-)) However, I am glad it costs less than 20 bucks to fix that.

I have recently discovered this workshop, the workers and the boss there are honest people. Few months ago, another place told me that I needed to pay 300-400 bucks to get my car’s air condition fixed. In fact, all it needed was a refill of gas and it only costs less than 20 bucks at this place. I would never go back to the first workshop that tried to cheat me. But, this one had a loyal customer now.

Hair loss

I was picking up so much hairs from the floor during my weekly cleaning just now, it worries me. My hair has been dropping quite a lot lately, it doesn’t seem normal to have this many hairs drop everyday. I am puzzled and don’t know what is going on. I wonder it has to do with the medication that I am taking? May be I should tell the doctor and discuss with him when I see him next.

By the rate it goes, who knows I am going to turn bald very soon. Should I consider using hair loss product like provillus? Would it help to curb or at least slow down the hair loss? I cannot imagine if I am turning bald one day. I would probably wear a wig, maybe just stay at home and not going out,  or just wear a hat or a scarf to cover up all the time?

Meeting the super mummies

Jess said she was not the last, which mean I am the last to blog about this meeting. :-) Some more I am “stealing” the picture from Chin Nee’s blog. I am too lazy to scrap the pictures, Chinnee’s Photoshop skill so good, why reinventing the wheels right? (Laziness and lame excuse are cousins, don’t they?)

I am so glad I drove downtown to meet Miche, Jess and Chinnee on a Saturday (I always avoid the tourist mall during weekend) Really want to thank Chin Nee for initiating the meet. We hit it off like we have known each other for years. Our meeting reminds me of the one that I have with my schoolmates during every Chinese new year.

The daddies were really good. They were keeping the children occupied and allowed us to yak, yak, yak, we actually yak away 3 hours, I couldn’t believe it when I finally looked at the watch! I must have refilled the drinks 2-3 times to replenish the saliva. Whoever decided to go Burger King with free flowing drinks is so clever!

Malacca is a small town or more like a big village, it turned out that Miche and I met before, I was able to recognize her hubby but only recalled I did meet Miche too later. Sorry lah, that was 6-7 years ago! Jesslyn and my mother were from the same place and have the same surname. I am pretty sure some of my uncles may know her family. But, we didn’t get to trace our family trees and ancestry roots because we were busy exchanging blogging tips and information. :-)

Some of you may have read on Chinnee’s and Jesslyn’s blogs about the meeting, if you have not check them out. Miche also did an introduction of who is who on her blog.

Tactical gears

I am curious. The first thing came to my mind when I saw the collection of functional and practical gear sold at LA Police Gear was: can people who are not military or law enforcement personal buy this 511 Tactical gear and wear them? And, who would want to wear this uniforms if they are not working in this fields?

Actually, the store has the largest selection of functional and practical gear for law enforcement, military and firefighting professionals. If you have friends or family members who work in the military, security or law enforcement sectors, you may want to let them know currently the store is offering free shipping BOTH WAYS on 5.11 Tactical!

Recovering from the move

The mover was supposed to come on Saturday at 5.00 p.m to move the rest of the stuffs. When I called at 4.30 p.m, they were still 50 miles away and was on their way to rush back. They said they were going to be late. Pengsan! I was going to meet the Malaccan super mummies at 6.30p.m. There was no way I was going to make it if I waited for the mover to arrive. So, I told the mover to reschedule it to Sunday. I am glad I did, else I wouldn’t be able to meet the super mummies.

I was so exhausted unpacking stuffs, reorganizing the closets, clearing the messes, no energy to blog about the meeting yet. I took a long nap this afternoon and sort of recovered from the exhaustion.

And, these are corners that still waiting to be cleared.

I brought back the metal cabinet to set up a home office.

Moving the mess 1

Just in case you are curious why I am moving and where to. I am moving the stuffs back to our house. In the past two years, we (more like I have been, since hubby hasn’t been around for almost a year) have been staying on the second floor of the premises that housed the preschool. I am moving the stuffs back to our house that has been vacant and neglected for two years. I will be working from home mostly and teach part time at the ground floor of the same premises since we have sold the first floor.

Meeting Russian girls

A friend of ours is married to a Russian girl and he met her through a dating site. According to him, many men in America meet their Russian bribes on this dating site. I asked him why he wants to marry a Russian girl. He told me that they are beautiful and they are not as spoiled as American women. Well, that’s an honest answer from an honest man.:-)

Seriously, the Russian girls are really beautiful, they are usually tall and slim, I have not seen any fat or short Russian girls so far. Sometime I wonder should my my friend who is single in his 40s try his luck with the Russian girls. (Ok, call me busy body) He learned Russian in college and can still speak a little. So, communication should be easier and he would brush up his Russian in no time if romance blooms.:-)

Bloggers meet

Chinnee is getting us to meet downtown Malacca this Saturday, if you happened to be in town and would like to meet us, do drop me a note. I would let you know the venue and time once it’s confirmed.

I would join the gathering but may run late as the movers are coming over to finish up the other half of the moving . If they come on time, I should be able to leave on time, but you never know!
